New Southern Area Champ predicting big year

Bradley “Super” Skeete is predicting a big year in 2013 following his emphatically stylish Southern Area welterweight title victory over bitter south London rival Chas Symonds.

The 25-year-old produced a near-perfect display throughout to halt Croydon-based Symonds, 30, in four rounds, at the ExCeL Centre.

Referee Jeff Hinds immediately waved off the contest as soon as Bradley sent the bruised and battered “Bomber” Symonds to the canvas for the second time.

Bradley faces McDonagh for Southern Title

Bradley faces two weight Southern Area Champion Peter ‘Connemara Kid’ McDonagh at York Hall this evening for his first title fight.

McDonagh has an established Championship record going right back to the mid-noughties, having won the Southern Area Lightweight title back in 2004 with a close points victory over Jon Honney before going on to secure the Irish Lightweight Crown, with a sensational sixth round stoppage of Michael Gomez, two years later.

Bradley has pencilled in a September title showdown against southern area welterweight champion Chas Symonds.

Skeete was in outstanding form at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday, dispatching Ross Payne via knockout after just 117 seconds.

Now, the Penge boxer wants to claim his maiden title in just a ninth pro outing.

Bradley Skeete was given the royal seal of approval by boxing enthusiasts following his impressive performance at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in West Kensington last Saturday.
The 24-year-old welterweight from Battersea took one minute and 57 seconds to stop the previously unbeaten Crawley-based Ross Payne.

Referee Richie Davis called an immediate halt to the scheduled eight rounder from the moment Payne sucker-punched to the canvas by a massive right hand.
